Spooky (she/her) is an emerging Meanjin-based artist, driven by her love for horror, mystery and the macabre. Growing up, she scored herself the nickname, turned stage name, of Spooky after developing an obsession with horror and cult cinema.
At the age of 15, Spooky obtained her Diploma of Cinemagraphic Makeup and began her work in the film industry. Over the past 10 years, Spooky has engaged in a plethora of creative works, including discovering a deep love for scare acting, usually of the demon or clown variety. Spooky is currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Drama.
Between studies, Spooky’s most recent work includes co-directing Vena Cava’s The Radio that Cried War (2024), working as Assistant Director for Vena Cava’s The Vera Watson Wellness Centre (2024), developing her first short film, Unravelling (2023), performing throughout the 2023 holiday season at EvilCorp Horror Maze, acting as 1st AD and Makeup Artist for The Last Warriors (Post Production), as well as portraying Mary in We’re Still Here (Post Production).
In 2025, Spooky will step into the role of Artistic Director for Vena Cava, a position she is thrilled to embrace. She intends to explore new works that push the boundaries of audience perceptions of the human psyche, philosophy, and society.
Spooky is privileged to live and create primarily on the unceded lands of the Yuggera/Jagera and Turrbal people and pays respects to their Elders, past and present.
